Lynnette Brooky

On the Course

Lynnette is a New Zealand professional golfer with nine international wins, including back‑to‑back French Opens and a wire‑to‑wire victory with a final‑round 66.

She broke her elbow jumping out of her manager's car to post a letter — handbag strap caught, RAV4 still running — and defended her title anyway.

She represented New Zealand at the Women's World Cup of Golf and is a Wellington Sports Legend.

Off the Course

Off the course, she has survived a dislocated shoulder, a wrist that needed plaster, and the betrayal of a coach who cleared out her savings.

She has also loved deeply — her manager Gail (now in a dementia ward), her friend Rose (lost to cancer), her travel agent Sidney (still answering the phone), and Gi Gi, who sang her name across European fairways.

Coming Home

After a career that spanned continents — nine international wins, two French Opens, a European Tour life built from scratch — Lynnette came home to Wellington. Today, the same belief that carried her around the world is what she gives to the next generation.

At Titahi Bay Golf Club and through the Brooky & Thompson Junior Golf Academy, she teaches four juniors at a time the proper way to play the game — and to grow into players who belong on the first tee.
