Dennis estimates that over 40 years he has given 30,000 to 35,000 lessons — mainly to beginners and to selected juniors identified as potential champions. That is where Michael and I started, before we went off to play for New Zealand.

THE SULLY CLASSIC

A 9-Hole Junior Golf Tournament in honour of Dennis Sullivan

Hosted by The Brooky & Thompson Junior Golf AcademyTitahi Bay Golf ClubDates to be confirmed

1. The Vision

The Sully Classic is a 3-day junior golf tournament created to honour Dennis Sullivan — a professional golfer, a dedicated coach, and a mentor who helped shape the careers of champions.

Dennis was invited by Titahi Bay Golf Club to come over and teach their juniors. Among those juniors were Michael Campbell (U.S. Open Champion) and Lynnette Brooky (Ladies European Tour player). This tournament carries his name forward, celebrating his legacy of growing the game.

To mark the occasion, Lynnette is inviting her past players from throughout New Zealand — the players she was associated with during her years as one of the country\u2019s top amateur golfers.

Sully helped the juniors start at Titahi Bay. He was a big believer that our kids have potential — just the way I want to think as well.

The Course Record

Who can shoot the lowest nine?

This is a record chase. Three days of nine-hole junior golf at Titahi Bay, and the lowest score of them all takes the title.

Every day is scored

Three days, one 9-hole round each day — and every round counts on its own.

The day’s lowest score is recorded

Whichever junior shoots the lowest score that day has it recorded against their name.

Lowest score is champion

The player with the lowest 9-hole score of the tournament is the Sully Classic champion — and holds the nine-hole course record at Titahi Bay.

The "Ball Drop"

Every player drops a ball in the slot. The moment a four-ball is ready, they tee off — no waiting around, no fixed tee times.

Finish your nine, drop your ball back in and go out again. Every round is a fresh shot at the day\u2019s lowest score and the record.

The field is capped so play keeps moving and every score is earned on the same course, in the same conditions.

Prize giving closes the tournament on the final evening, where the champion and the record are confirmed. Smart dress required.

Become a sponsor

This tournament exists because Dennis Sullivan gave his time to a group of juniors at Titahi Bay — and two of them, Michael Campbell and Lynnette Brooky, went on to play on the world stage.

We're looking for at least 30 Major Sponsors at $1,000 each to help us give today's juniors the same chance. Your name goes on the flag, the website, and the day itself — but more than that, you join the story. Send your details through the form below and Annette will be in touch.
