The Teachers Who Made Me
Every lesson Lynnette gives today is shaped by the remarkable teachers who gave so generously to her own journey. These are the people whose wisdom she carries onto every teaching tee.
Dennis & Sheila Sullivan
Amateur YearsFirst Professional Teachers
Dennis and Sheila were the very first professionals to shape Lynnette's game. Their belief in her during her amateur years planted the seed for everything that followed — 9 international wins, back-to-back French Opens, and a lifelong devotion to the game.
Wisdom Lynnette Carries Forward
"Build the fundamentals so solidly they become instinct — a shaky foundation will always crack under pressure."
"A young player's confidence is fragile and precious. Nurture it before you challenge it."
"Everything you put into practice today, you will draw on for the rest of your career."
Alex Mercer
Pro YearsAustralian PGA Immortal & Life Member — Long-Term Coach
Alex Mercer was Lynnette's long-term coach for the best part of a decade — an Australian PGA Immortal and Life Member widely regarded as the number-one coach in Australasia. For more than forty years Alex taught golfers of every age and ability across Australia and New Zealand, and Lynnette was one of the players he shaped. "Dennis Sullivan and Alex Mercer gave me a lot of insights," she says — the foundation that taught her how to be a successful golfer. Alex first spotted her during the Women's World Cup in Vancouver, and between European Tour events Lynnette would fly down to put her swing back in his hands whenever her game needed rebuilding. To this day she counts him alongside Dennis Sullivan as the biggest influences on her career.
Wisdom Lynnette Carries Forward
"A great coach sees the whole player — the swing, the head, and the heart — never just the ball."
"The basics never retire. Return to them every single time the game runs away from you."
"Give a player your eye and your time, and you give them a whole career."
Martin Heys
European Tour YearsPGA Fellow Professional & Director of Golf — Wexham Park Golf Centre, England
When Lynnette was based in Chalfont St Peter between tournaments — flying in from one victory and preparing for the next — Wexham Park was just down the road. Martin Heys, PGA Fellow Professional and one of England's most respected coaches, became a trusted friend and sounding board during those years. Lynnette held him in the highest regard, not just for his knowledge of the game, but for the generosity of his time and the warmth of his friendship.
Wisdom Lynnette Carries Forward
"A good coach gives you their time freely — and that generosity is worth more than any technique."
"The game looks different when you share it with someone who truly understands it."
"Being close to great coaches between tournaments keeps your thinking sharp and your game honest."
The New Zealand Golf Community
Throughout Her CareerClub Coaches, Administrators & Fellow Competitors
The collective wisdom of New Zealand's golfing community — its club coaches, volunteer administrators, and fellow competitors — gave Lynnette more than any single lesson could. It is this same community spirit she now pours back into every junior she teaches, freely and without profit.
Wisdom Lynnette Carries Forward
"The sport belongs to everyone who loves it — give back freely and often."
"A community that invests in its juniors today grows champions tomorrow."
"No player succeeds alone. There is always a village behind every winner."
Lynnette's Vision for Every Player
What she wants to see in players of every level
🏌️ Correct technique from day one. Grip, posture, alignment, and swing path — built properly so bad habits never take hold.
🤝 Respect for the game. Etiquette, sportsmanship, and care for the course are just as important as any shot.
🧠 A thinking golfer. Players who understand why they make each decision, not just how to hit the ball.
💪 Resilience and self-belief. Golf is a mental game. Lynnette wants to see players who bounce back, stay patient, and back themselves.
❤️ A lifelong love of the sport. Above all, she wants every player to leave each session excited to come back and play.
